About Us

Who are we?  We are the right church for you!  Why?  Because we are a family, a family of individuals from many different cultures and of many different age groups; a family united in Christ.  How big are we?  We are not too big and we are not too small.  We are just the right size to make you feel comfortable.  How friendly are we?  We believe that hospitality is a Divine command.  You are welcome here.  By the way, we are a big family united in Christ so, just like at a family reunion, you will see people dressed up and you will see people in shorts and t-shirts.  God doesn't care and neither do we.  Come as you are.  Only bring your heart, God does care about that!

 

We start off Sunday morning at 9:00am with a free continental breakfast.  We call this time "Common Grounds" and it is a great opportunity for us to get to know each other in a casual, comfortable sort of way.  When you arrive at the church (map & directions) drive around to the back where our main entrance is located.  Come upstairs and take the ramp to the Fellowship Hall - just follow the sound of the friendly voices.

 

God's Word is important to us here, so the next thing we do is break off into Bible Study classes (9:30am-10:45am).  For children and youth there are graded classes and for adults we have a number of options.  We will help you find the perfect spot.

 

At 11:00am, we all gather together in the Sanctuary for our Worship Service.  From our main entrance, go up the stairs or elevator and down the hallway to our worship center.  Our Worship service represents who we are - a blend of individuals praising Jesus together.  Our praise leader picks up her guitar and we join in with all our hearts.  The organ thunders and the powerful words of timeless hymns are on our lips.  The children are invited to the front for a special message from the pastor.  We open God's word together and take in the Words of Life.  We celebrate the Lord and His sacrifice for us.  Then with our hearts lifted, we go out into the world carrying the hope of Christ to everyone we meet.

 

Our young adults gather at 12:30pm for their Sunday Bible Study class.  Childcare is provided for their children during this time, so they can focus on studying God's Word together.

 

At 7:00pm on Sunday evenings, we come together again for our Pastor's Bible Study - an informal time of joyful singing and solid teaching.

 

Each Sunday morning after the invocation, the pastor reminds us of our mission. We are to worship our Risen Savior Jesus Christ; we are to endeavor to grow more like Christ each day, both as individuals and collectively as a church; and, having the Good News of Jesus, we are to share that with the world around us.  Simply put, we believe in the Deity and the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  We believe the Bible is God's perfect revelation to us.  If you want to discover what God's Word says and how it can change your life for the better, this is the right place to come.  If you want to encounter Jesus and discover the Way, the Truth and the Life, this is the right place to be.

 

Colesville Baptist Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, The Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware and the Montgomery Baptist Association.  We find that The Baptist Faith and Message best describes our Biblical faith.
